56 kilos of marijuana seized at border crossing

PREŠEVO -- The police on Monday found more than 56 kilograms of marijuana hidden in a car stopped at the Preševo border crossing between Serbia and Macedonia.

A statement said that the drugs were found in a Greek license plates Opel Vectra, driven by 40-year-old Greek citizen identified as A.P.

Permits, license plates returned to drivers for elections


As of Thursday, drivers who have had their permits or license plates confiscated by police for minor offenses can reclaim them so they can vote in the upcoming local and European elections.

This does not apply to drivers who have committed serious offenses such as driving under the influence of alcohol, breaking the speed limit or running a red light.

Minor traffic offenders to get plates back for Easter


As is customary at around this time of year, drivers who have had their permits or license plates confiscated by police for minor offenses will be able to reclaim them before Easter.

A decision by Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias means that plates or permits confiscated before April 15 can now be claimed by drivers.

Amendments Ban Foreigners from Driving Cars with BG Plates Abroad

Amendments to Bulgaria's Traffic Act, passed at first reading in Parliament on Thursday, ban foreigners from permanently driving cars with Bulgarian registration plates.  

If the amendments come into effect, the Bulgarian car registration will have to be terminated and the plates returned. The violators would face a fine of BGN 300.
