Antalya local eats 2.2-kilograms of honey in three minutes, breaks festival record 

A man in the southern Turkish province of Antalya ate 2.2 kilograms of honey in just three minutes during a competition as part of a honey festival organized on Aug. 21.

Out of 15 competitors in the Second Honey Festival in Antalya's Finike district, 49-year-old Ayhan Azak broke last year's record.

Last year's record for the honey-eating competition was 15 minutes.

Honey Prices Go Up by 20% in Bulgaria

Price of honey in Bulgaria has gone up by 20% because of the high mortality rate of honeybees, which reaches 60% and even 100% this year. According to beekeepers, about a third of the products on the market do not have the necessary qualities because they are mixed with Ukrainian and Chinese honey, reported the Bulgarian National Television. 

One million bees killed by unidentified suspects who covered beehive entrances with soil in Turkey's Manisa

One million bees have been killed in the Aegean province of Manisa after unidentified suspects covered the entrances of beehives with soil on July 29.

The incident occurred in Manisa's Saruhanlı district.

Zafer Şahin, the owner of the beehives, replaced 122 beehives, which had been carrying 10 thousand bees per hive, one month ago in the neighborhood of Lütfiye.

It's all about honey and bees in Slovenia

Beekeeping in Slovenia is an indicator of concern for the environment and nature, according to State Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fotestry and Food Tanja Strniša.

The sector is very progressive and proactive. There are currently some 10,000 beekeepers in Slovenia, who have a total of 176,000 bee colonies, comprised of 20,000-80,000 female worker bees.

Mysterious beehives in park overlooking Bosphorus in Istanbul raise questions

Several beehives spotted in a park between Istanbul's Dolmabahçe and Gümüşsuyu districts have raised questions on how they were placed there. 

A total of 15 beehives on five trees were spotted at the Dec. 10 Marytrs' Park, formerly known as the Freeloaders Hill, and no official has any information on the issue, daily Habertürk reported on April 7.
