Come join the Santa Run in Athens on Nov. 29

Santa Run Athens will be held again on Sunday, November 29, in the center of Athens at 11.30 a.m. The event is an international phenomenon which takes place in several big cities around the world.

All runners will put on a Santa suit taking part in a symbolic race, without timing, where everyone will be a winner and a supporter of a special cause.

Attacks Target Three Offices of SYRIZA in Athens

Arsonists attacked three offices of the largest ruling party in the Greek capital of Athens overnight.

Incendiary devices went off at the offices of SYRIZA in Glyfada, Nea Ionia and Kypseli between 1 and 3 a.m. on Monday.

The three attacks caused damage, but no casualties have been reported, daily Kathimerini informs.

Old Hellenikon Airport to be turned into a dumpster!

Alt. Finance Minister Nadia Valavani issued a decision concerning the government’s plans for Hellenikon International Airport at the Agios Kosmas Seafront. Contrary to dreams for the 12-acred site to be turned into the biggest park in Europe, the airport will be used to serve the countries waste management needs.

Siemens employee's death ruled a suicide

The death of a 61-year-old Siemens Hellas employee whose body was found in Ano Glyfada last Sunday has been a ruled a suicide. The body was found carrying gunshot wounds to the chest by a passerby.

A handgun was also discovered on the scene, along with two hand-written notes in which the man allegedly referred to financial problems which had led him to take his own life.

Terror suspect granted extension to testify

A 23-year-old alleged to be an accomplice of convicted November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xeros [photo] has been given an extension to prepare his testimony.

The suspect, who was arrested Wednesday in the southern Athenian suburb of Glyfada, will testify on Tuesday. He faces charges of theft and of belonging to a terrorist organization.

Three nabbed for stealing from rich dead tramps

An investigation into the bizarre deaths of two elderly siblings, whose bodies were found in their home in the Athens coastal suburb of Glyfada last July, has taken a new turn after police arrested three suspected members of a fraud ring that used forged documents to try and draw 150,000 euros from the bank accounts of the brothers, who were scrap collectors.
