The leadership of the Greek police presented Thursday the new manual for demonstrations based on a Presidential Decree on public assemblies that entered into force last July. The manual is essentially the operational tactics police intend to adopt from now on to manage demonstrations.

Greece, Albania establish cross-border crime prevention center

Man found shot dead in car in Kalyvia
The body of a man who had been shot in the head was found in the parking lot of a health center in Kalyvia, eastern Attica on Wednesday.
According to reports, the man, aged between 50-60 and an employee of the health center, was inside the vehicle when he was shot.
Hellenic Police (ELAS) investigators are working on the assumption that he was ambushed.

Probe into video showing police brutality
Three border guards and a police officer have been suspended from their duties following a video doing the rounds on the internet showed them being physically abusive toward people during a search on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, according to reports on Saturday.

Public debate on university security proposal starts
The public debate on the government's proposals for the protection of universities from violent outsiders and the prevention of lawlessness officially begins on Tuesday with presentations to university rectors and the union of university professors (POSDEP) via teleconference by Education Minister Niki Kerameus and Citizens' Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis.
60 arrested, 73 in custody during crackdown in Peloponnese
Police in the Peloponnese remanded 73 people in custody and made 60 arrests during a three-day crackdown on crime across the region last week, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) said in a press release on Saturday.
In total, officers questioned 918 individuals and stopped 670 motorists.
