Tight security put in place as royals arrive
The operational plan of the Hellenic Police (ELAS) was finalized at the weekend for the security measures on Monday, the day of the funeral of the former king Constantine.
Police officers of all specialties were already on duty on Sunday in the center of the capital as the first representatives of royal families arrived in Athens to attend the Monday service.

The Hellenic Police (ELAS) has responded to a media report criticizing Citizens' Protection Minister Takis Theodorikakos for purportedly surrounding himself with an "army" of police for his security detail and, as a result, depriving the public of their services.

Turkish Deputy Interior Minister has slammed Greek minister for his allegations about the country forcing 92 migrants to cross into Greece and stripping them naked before doing so.

Minister: Taking aim at campus crime
The mission of the new police force to serve on university campuses will be to avoid the "humiliation" of any more rectors, Citizens' Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis told Kathimerini in an interview, citing the October 2020 attack on the Athens University of Economics and Business rector, when anarchists hung a sign around his neck with a pro-squatting slogan on it.

Greek Police Accused of Violence at Education Bill Protests
Police in Greece have been criticised after videos circulated on social media of officers violently pushing and shoving photojournalists covering a protest against a new bill for universities on Wednesday.
The photojournalists' union said riot police beat up a member of the union who had been reporting on the protests.
Education bill to pass on Wednesday amid protests
The government and the main opposition on Tuesday continued their clash over the education bill, which, notably, provides for the introduction of a police corps into universities.
Wednesday's final vote on the bill will coincide with a protest staged by teachers' associations of all education levels, as well as university students' and parents' associations.
