Jankovic beats Peterson to advance to Guangzhou quarters
GUANGZHOU - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic is through to the quarter-finals of the Guangzhou tennis tournament after Sweden's Rebecca Peterson retired from their Round 2 match on Wednesday.
Second-seeded Jankovic, who was leading 6-1, 1-0, will next play Sabine Lisicki of Germany, who beat Shuai Peng of China 6-4, 6-1.
The prize money in Guangzhou is 250,000 dollars.
Jankovic gets off to successful start in China
GUANGZHOU - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic has got off to a successful start of her Asian tour by beating Xiaodi You of China 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round of the Guangzhou WTA tennis tournament on Tuesday.
Second-seeded Jankovic will next face Rebecca Peterson of Sweden.
The prize money in Guangzhou is 250,000 dollars.

Jankovic defeated by Navarro at US Open
NEW YORK - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic is out of the US Open after a 6-1, 6-4 defeat to Carla Suarez Navarro in the second round of the tournament.
Navarro won after just over an hour of play and is now 4-4 head-to-head against Jankovic.
The Spaniard will next face Elena Vesnina of Russia.

Jankovic ousted from French Open by world number 111
PARIS - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic was kicked out of Roland Garros in the first round by world number 111, Germany's Tatjana Maria, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Tuesday.
It took the German 145 minutes to defeat the Serb and level their head-to-head to 1-1.
Maria will next play Frenchwoman Alize Cornet.
Djokovic to play Lu in Roland Garros opener
PARIS - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the current world number one in men's tennis, was on Friday drawn to play Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei in the Roland Garros opener.
Djokovic could face arch-rival Rafael Nadal of Spain in the semi-finals.

Jankovic ousted from Madrid Open in first round
MADRID - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic was ousted in the opening round of the Madrid Open by Romania's Sorana Cirstea 6-4, 6-3 on Sunday.
World number 131 Cirstea will next play Montenegro's Danka Kovinic.
The total prize money for the tournament in Madrid is USD 4,771,360

Jelena Jankovic wins Hong Kong title
Serbia's Jelena Jankovic outpowered Angelique Kerber of Germany to take the Hong Kong Open title 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-1 on Sunday.
Jankovic lost the first set and was down 6-5 in the second before rallying to beat Kerber.

Top tennis players to compete in Istanbul Open
Some of the world's top tennis professional will compete in Turkey next month in the TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Cup.
According to organizers, 13 players ranked in the first 50 places by the Women's Tennis Association will compete in Istanbul between July 20 and 26.
