Jankovic defeated in Beijing opener, Ivanovic moves on
BEIJING - Serbia's tennis player Jelena Jankovic did not make it to the second round of the WTA tournament in Beijing as she was bested by Alize Cornet of France 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on Monday.
This was the first win of the French player in their head-to-heads (1-3).
Earlier on Monday, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic breezed past Belinda Bencic of Switzerland 6-2, 6-1 in only 72 minutes.
Jankovic retires in Wuhan round 2
WUHAN - Serbia's No. 2 Jelena Jankovic was forced to retire in her second round match at the WTA tournament in Wuhan against Coco Vandeweghe (USA) on Tuesday, while trailing 4-1.
Jankovic is the second Serbian player to retire in Wuhan, after Ana Ivanovic pulled out due to fatigue in the first round on Monday.

Jankovic's doubles run in Tokyo ends in semifinals
TOKYO - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic and Spain's Arantxa Parra Santonja lost their semifinal match against the Indian-Zimbabwean pair of Sania Mirza and Cara Black 6-3, 6-2 at the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Friday.
Jankovic was ousted in the second round of the singles competition earlier.

Jankovic loses in Tokyo round two
TOKYO - Serbian No. 2 Jelena Jankovic was ousted in the second round of singles at the WTA tournament in Tokyo by Garbine Muguruza of Spain 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 on Thursday.
The fourth-seeded Jankovic failed to justify the role of favorite against the talented 20-year-old.

Jankovic scores success in U.S. Open women's doubles
NEW YORK - Serbian female tennis player Jelena Jankovic and Klara Koukalova of the Czech Republic qualified for the U.S. Open women's doubles third round as they defeated Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan and Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain in the Saturday match, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
Jankovic races through to US Open fourth round
NEW YORK – Serbia’s Jelena Jankovic advanced to the fourth round of US Open after sweeping past Johanna Larsson of Sweden 6-1, 6-0 late on Friday CET.
A superior display against world No. 96 announced the in-form ninth seed Jankovic to be a real contender in the last Grand Slam of the season.

Jankovic reaches 3rd round of US Open
NEW YORK - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic defeated Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova 7-5 6-4 on Thursday to reach the 3rd round of the US Open.
After beating compatriot Bojana Jovanovski in the 1st round, Jankovic continued to play with confidence in her bid to win the last Grand Slam tournament of the season.

Bulgaria's tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova started its participation in the US Open tennis tournament with victory, reports Dnes.bg.
She beat the Italian Karin Knapp by 6:4, 6:3 and qualified for the second round. There Pironkova will face Jelena Jankovic.

Ana Ivanovic 9th, Jelena Jankovic 10th in WTA rankings
LONDON - Ana Ivanovic's good play in Cincinnati, which saw her through to the final, made Serbia once again the only country with two female tennis players among the top 10 in the world.
The success in Cincinnati also made Ivanovic Serbia's best ranked player, since she is now 9th in the WTA rankings, pushing back her compatriot Jelena Jankovic to 10th spot.
