Bulgaria's Sesil Karatancheva Beats Former No.1 at Opening of Roland Garros

Bulgaria's female tennis player Sesil Karatancheva proceeded to the second round of Roland Garros on Tuesday.

Karatancheva defeated former WTA No. 1 Jelena Jankovic from Serbia with 6:3, 6:4 in a match, which lasted around an hour.

The Bulgarian played confidently and made use of the hesitant performance of Jankovic, who conceded 45 unforced errors, daily Dnevnik reports.

Jankovic through to Charleston third round

CHARLESTON - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic has reached the third round of the Charleston WTA tennis tournament by beating Tatjana Maria 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-1 in the second round late Tuesday CET.

Jankovic, the current world number 17, and Maria, who ranks 13th, played an extraordinary match that featured as many as 13 break points won.

Fed Cup:Ana and Jelena to head Serbian team against Paraguay

BELGRADE - Coach of the Serbian Fed Cup team Tatjana Jecmenica released on Tuesday the list of female tennis players who will compete in the match against Paraguay in the play off for World Group B.

The list includes Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, and Jecmenica also invited Aleksandra Krunic and Ivana Jorovic to play in the qualifications.

Ivanovic reaches Miami third round

MIAMI - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic has progressed to the third round of the WTA tournament in Miami courtesy of a deserved victory over Irina Falconi of the U.S. 7-5, 6-7 (4), 6-3.

Ivanovic is now Serbia's only female representative in Miami after Jelena Jankovic, Bojana Jovanovski and Aleksandra Krunic dropped put.

Jankovic drops out of Miami tournament

MIAMI - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic did not make it to the third round of the WTA tournament in Miami after she was outplayed by Belarusian Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 6-1.

Although the clash of the two former world number ones on Friday evening was expected to be a close battle, Azarenka's win was never in doubt. She now owns a 7-4 edge over Jankovic.
